What is Migraine?
Pain in half or a part of the head is Migraine. The pain may persist from a few hours to days.
Causes:
Migraine causes are not fully understood by modern science. Genetics, Lifestyle & Stress appears to play a vital role.
A migraine patient may find the pattern in recurring pain. These patterns may vary and always don’t brings the pain in. These are known as Migraine Triggers. Some are listed below
- Sleep changes
- Drinks: Alcohol (especially wine) and caffeine-containing drinks like coffee.
- Stress
- Hormonal changes in women
- Change in Weather
- Intense Physical Activities
- Sexual Activities
These triggers are not scientifically proven but are complaints of patients.
Symptoms:
Symptoms of migraine vary from individual to individual. Migraine is tricky. The symptoms are not persistent and cannot be confirmed. Some symptoms are
- Pain in a part or side of the head (also may be in both sides)
- Mood swings
- Increased thirst and urination
- Constipation
- The patient may see flashes of light
- Blurry vision
- Hearing noises
- Nausea and Vomiting
- May induce pain in the eye
Home Remedies:
- Holy Basil, Black Pepper & Garlic
- Mix 25 leaves of Holy Basil (Tulasi), 10 Black Peppers (Marich) & 10 cloves of Garlic
- Grind the mixture to get a paste
- Sniff the paste in 2 hours interval for 2 days
- Wash Holy Basil (Tulasi) Leaves and grind to form a paste. Extract juice by filtering with a clean cotton cloth. Insert the juice in drops to the nostrils. 2 drops for each nostril.
- Make Walnut daily part of your diet.
- Considering the side of pain in the head, insert Cow Milk or Mustard (Tori) Oil in the nostril of that side.
- Grind the SoapNut (Rittha) seeds in water. Insert 2 drops in each nostril.
- Roll Fennel (Saunf) in dry leaves of Sacred Fig (Peepal) tree. Smoke as if you are smoking cigarettes. Note: this method is not appropriate for People with Respiratory Diseases
- Prepare a paste from the grinding of Indian Lilac (Neem) Leaves. Apply on the forehead for relief.
- Eat hot Jalebi (Indian sweet also known as Jeri) on an empty stomach and drink milk. Don’t drink water at least for an hour.
- Eat ripe Guava (Aamba) fruit every day. Also, make a paste of unripened Guava (Aamba) fruit and apply it to the forehead.
